Adygea

The Republic of Adygea is a part of the Southern federal district and is surrounded with the territory of Krasnodar Krai. The capital of Adygea and its largest city is Maikop (about 145 thousand inhabitants). The second most important city of the republic is Adygeysk.

Over half of all population of the republic is a rural population.

Adygea is an industrial and agrarian republic where both industry (food, forest, woodworking), and agriculture (plant growing and animal husbandry) are well developed.

Besides, inhabitants of Adygea have possibility to live rich cultural life. There is art gallery, 8 state and more than 20 public museums. The largest of them is Republic of Adygea National museum located in Maikop. The museum was founded in 1926, and today its fund has the unique archaeological and ethnographic collections numbering more than 275 thousand exhibits.

Also cultural life of the republic is presented by numerous theaters, concert halls, movie theaters and recreation centers.

Tourism isn't less developed in the territory of Adygea. The mountain part of the republic is object of the World heritage of UNESCO. The numerous rivers, falls, caves, rocks and gorges attract here nature enthusiasts and adventure travelers.
